What is 2Dcanvas?

Help me figure it out, otherwise I'm so confused that I no longer understand where is up and where is down.
I'm trying to figure out if my ubuntu browsers support gpu rendering.
I enter the command and see -

Graphics Feature Status
Canvas: Software only, hardware acceleration unavailable
Flash: Hardware accelerated
Flash Stage3D: Software only, hardware acceleration unavailable
Flash Stage3D Baseline profile: Software only, hardware acceleration unavailable
Compositing: Hardware accelerated
Multiple Raster Threads: Disabled
Rasterization: Software only, hardware acceleration unavailable
Threaded Rasterization: Enabled
Video Decode: Software only, hardware acceleration unavailable
Video Encode: Hardware accelerated
WebGL: Hardware accelerated

WebGL is supported but Canvas is not. What is Canvas in this context?
And there is another incomprehensible fragment -

What does 2d canvas mean?
And one more thing.. To find out the support, I went to the ubuntu forum,
where I was told that in linux-like and poppy-like systems
in chromium, 2dcanvas is not supported...
What kind of 2dcanvas is this?

As I understand it, we are talking about hardware accelerated rendering. Something is not working right for you, maybe old drivers or something like that.
