There is almost no syntax highlighting in the standard IDE.

Hardly relevant now, but for those who are looking now or will be looking - I use:
https://flatassembler.net/download.php from the office. site. If you are interested in appearance - color scheme, text and fonts, then it is quite easy to customize.
