What happens when I set the default browser on Linux?
What changes in the operating system settings? I just burned this topic: I have two browsers (No. 1 by default), there is a server address on which ports are configured to listen. Duck, the highlight of this server is that it breaks the attempt of the second parallel connection from one IP address and if I go from browser No. 1 and then from browser No. 2, then the server breaks browser No. 2, of course, with all these manipulations, browsers have the http / protocol 1.1 and higher, therefore, their connections are "keepalive", that is, the tcp connection does not break for a long time, and if I go from the beginning from browser No. 2 and then from No. 1, then, logically, the server should have cut off the connection with No. 1, but no. Browser #1 somehow reconnects to the port occupied by browser #2 and successfully receives packets, while browser #2 loses connection. Therefore, I ask what changes in the axis settings? What privileges does the browser get by default?

Many applications open http links and html files using xdg-open. Most likely, when you set the default browser, it is he who starts to be used when xdg-open is launched.
