What free antivirus to put at home, a simple user?
Usually I used to put Avira, but somehow recently I was disappointed in it.
As usual, there are many acquaintances, everyone asks for advice. Not everyone wants to pay, so it’s not clear what to advise them.
I myself sit without it, I do not need it).

I recommend avast to everyone - quite simple and understandable for the average user.

Install Ubuntu. And it's free and there are no viruses, and ordinary users complain about it less than incomprehensible windows from an unconfigured firewall.
I advise you to look at protection from Comodo .
In addition to antivirus with proactive protection, they have a very good and "user friendly" firewall.
Avira-personal free and more!
According to my occupation, I often “repair” vents with porno banners, etc…
Clients with avira have not been announced yet… by the
way, I often leave after nod32 and avast :)
window vent repair is not cheap.
ps By the way, there is a resource to help www.avkeys.ru/
Well, do not forget the rule:
We do not sit under the Admin, the password is on the Admin account.
avast - from the pros: frequent signature updates (every 4 hours). the kernel itself is also updated quite often. of the minuses: it is necessary to register. a month works without registration, with it - a year (registration itself is very simple in the antivirus itself)
avg - from the pros: set it and forget it. of the minuses: signature updates only once a day (in the free version)
stopped at these two. in my opinion the most reliable of the free ones.
Kaspersky is also not bad, I have been using it for the last 5 years and does not fail. The program itself is free, but the keys are another matter, but in general you can find them for free.
Avast .
3 years ago, I didn't like him terribly. He was like a sieve through everything including HIV.
Now it works just gorgeous, slightly worse than paid ones, but still. There is also a free one year subscription.
I recommend avast. Free for home use + updates are automatically downloaded. I think the best option for the house. use.
And there is also cure it from dr. web, only it's a scanner, also free with all the latest updates.
on the computer is avast from version 4.8 updated to already 6 like. and to this day regularly serves faithfully.
on beech Security Essential from melkosofta. Easily gets on Windows with VL key from inets.
I treat CureIT viruses then Casper or vice versa.
I don’t have an antivirus myself, I’ve been working under the admin account for 2 years, I didn’t catch a single virus, etc. (or I think I didn’t catch a naive one, although I climb adult sites). I don’t install an antivirus because it makes the system lag (especially Casper lags), and I think that they have bugdoors (100%).
Moreover, what's the point of installing a resident antivirus if any shkolota can re-crypt the exploit, troy and whatever is good and the antivir does not really see anything or says it will see but says something little understood.
Previously, I used Linux (Gentoo, Debian, Ubuntu) - it is an order of magnitude safer than Windows, if only because it is more promising to write “viruses” under Windows.
P.S. For the sake of experiment, I always keep 5k rubles on webmoney and the keys to it in Firefox. Until they stole it (probably no one needs it).
Of the Windows settings, I only changed the local security policies.
I will support Avast, it is with friends. For one person, it was convenient in that you can set up updates for a machine that is not connected to the Internet (by downloading and uploading manually).
I myself use AVG - for about half a year: the flight is normal (but I don’t open shit sites either).
Long used AVG, he strenuously pretended to work. That is, it started up, slowed down the system a little, drew a square in the tray - what else should the antivirus do? :-)
When I caught a strange problem (Javascript on the ya.ru site worked crookedly - I was shocked how this is even possible), I endured it for a couple of weeks, I could not find it, then I despaired and decided to rearrange the antivirus. Avira found a trojan on a computer (it did something tricky with JS in HTML traffic and worked buggy on the Yandex code). As a result, I threw out AVG, I usually use Avira.
Today, in Q&A, I was looking for tutorials on Windows for dummies, along the way I ran into the site master-samouchitel.ru/ (you can have a look, it hasn’t been blocked yet. I reported it to the Google blacklist.). The site was handing out very suspicious "tutorials" in .exe format 2 mega in size. :-)
Here on virustotal you can see what different antiviruses say about this file - Avira (and half of other antiviruses) find a virus in it. And AVG, unfortunately, no. :-(

try it free for 6 months Kaspersky Anti-Virus download.yandex.ru/kaspersky/kav_yandex.exe
From my own experience, I recommend that you use the following bundle:
1. One of the free antiviruses described above (I personally use AVG myself, Avira and Avast are also suitable)
2. Install an additional antivirus that does not conflict with the main Baidu - from the first minutes of use I was amazed at its speed , both installation and operation (uses 3 antivirus engines)
I think there is nothing to fear with such a kit 8)
www.360totalsecurity.com/ru - the best free annivirus.
