What format to submit to rtmp-nginx-module?

I collected rtmp-nginx-module, I need to apply for rtmp-nginx-module to get HLS, how best to do this? Preferably with VLC.
PS The situation is this, the signal reception from the satellite will go to VLC, and then to Nginx (to the site) m3u8.

As the name of the module suggests, you can use the RTMP protocol :)

I'm just starting to experiment with this module. While broadcasting a local file directly from the site through ffmpeg, converting it to flv. And from the webcam, again sending the stream via ffmpeg. RTMP, not Http Live Stream.
The network writes about successful broadcasting experiences from VLC to nginx-rtmp, but they do not provide specific details.
H.264, mp4, AAC - have you tried it?
