What engine is better to create an online store?

What engine is better to create an online store? Preferably free.
A couple of years ago I tried to do this - the results upset me. I even thought of writing my own from scratch, but there was no time.
I have been working with PHP/HTML/CSS/MySQL/VPS-VDS/Open Server/Nginx/Apache for a long time.

Tried OpenCart VirtueMart WooCommerce Magento.
Despite good hosting and community support (Linux admins, hosting, server setup), all of the above did not work stably, slowly.
I installed a minimum of plug-ins on these SMS - the most popular and necessary.
Something commercial like 1C or Umi did not test.

I recommend looking at October CMS + Shopaholic . The first one is famous for its out-of-the-box asceticism, agility and the fact that it was created for developers. He is highly praised for the DX he provides. The second develops his ideas.
Shopaholic is aimed at professional developers in the first place, because its out-of-the-box modules do not even have views. The idea is that serious ecom projects built by professional developers are custom in nature. Therefore, the UI will be custom. Therefore, there are no views.
Its performance is also in full order out of the box. Here is a screenshot from the description in the marketplace.

And under load everything is fine.

But keep in mind that you will have to write more code by hand than on the same PrestaShop. But the flexibility of Shopaholic does not hold. Any business logic is extended by standard October extends .

Slow is a philosophical concept.
Without metrics, it turns into sophistry in general.
So I recommend publishing the number of users and what does not suit you.
Maybe you just need to buy a powerful server and not worry

It is easier to buy multifunctional templates for online stores , on OpenCart or on WordPress. I bought a ready-made online store based on the WooCommerce e-commerce plugin with payment modules, etc., for $30. At first I doubted, then I decided to buy, with the purchase there was an installation instruction, the installation itself took 15 minutes. So far everything works, I'm not complaining.
