What edition of mssql server to choose?

Before that, I didn’t ask questions about software licensing (all OS came pre-installed). Now we need to install mssql server. The conditions are as follows: 40-50 simultaneous connections, large database, frequent requests. I think between MSSQL 2005 Standart and Workgroup. Which one is better to choose, how much do they cost and where can I buy?

It is not entirely clear:
- why a DBMS is needed (development, delivery along with software, deployment on an enterprise server);
- on what hardware the DBMS is supposed to be installed (the number of processor cores, the amount of RAM);
- the volume of the database (in bytes and in the number of records);
- the ratio of actions when accessing the database (reading, inserting, deleting, updating);
- additional specific information.

Well, of course, the Standard version is better (more precisely, less limited). For the rest, I don’t know - I didn’t have to face it.
Well, in conclusion: I’m sure that you considered the Express version - why didn’t it fit?
Perhaps the answer to this question will be the answer to your question.

Do I understand correctly that the workgroup edition will cost $3900?

Apparently, yes.
