What does * mean in annotation?

I use PHPStorm
If I click Annotate, the following field will pop up:

I found the following information in the documentation :

Annotations for lines modified in the current revision, are marked with bold type and an asterisk.

It seemed that this might mean the most recent change.
And indeed, these asterisks seem to be found exactly on them
. But in the project there are files in which there are also several different changes in the file, but at the same time this asterisk is not on any line
. What does this star mean?
