What does int86(0x10, ...) mean?
Perhaps a rather stupid question. I can't figure out what the int86(0x10, ...) command means? Why are we passing a parameter of type 0x.. ?

Because interrupt numbers in DOS are usually written in hexadecimal form. 0x10 == 10 16 == 16 10
