I would like to become a spice in IB, but I have no idea what they do. You can tell in detail about the directions in information security, what tasks they perform and why they need mathematics.

To those who ask me what I do here (at work), I usually answer - "I'm a local crocodile :) I swim near well-trodden paths and can chop off the leg of an unlucky aborigine who has deviated from the route :)"
Why math? Well, how, for example, to count the number of password brute force attempts? Cryptography - the basis of any information security - is a terrible tambourine mathematics :)

Information security specialists, like system administrators, are a rather broad concept.
For example, when I worked as an information security specialist, I studied network vulnerabilities, studied traffic and security incidents in order to make recommendations for preventing incidents in the future, as well as encryption and signature issues.
In another place where he went to get a job as an information security specialist, it required only the preparation of instructions and paperwork.
