What directories can be safely excluded from git/deployment in Magento2?

New in Magento, tell me - the size of Magento2.4 is about 650MB (downloaded from digitialocean), which is an overkill, I downloaded half a day through PhpStorm Deployment. It is planned to work on the design, add some calculated fields to the order form, maybe a custom module will appear. In parallel, more ready-made modules from the marketplace will most likely be installed. It will also go to git. What directories can be painlessly excluded from the git and deployment, as long as the vendor is added to the exclusions as the largest (435MB), is something else possible?

I don’t understand, are you going to “work on the design” on the magento core? Why do you need to drag all the intsance into the git?
You will cut your theme, upload the topic to the git, if the module - upload the module.
And - why download from somewhere, especially half a day, if you can install two composer commands in 10 minutes?
