What db or what type of db does imdb / kinopoisk use?

If anyone knows or thinks what they use? RDBMS (SQL) or something exotic?
And another question: if you need to do something like imdb / kinopoisk for ~ 1m movies, 3m people with connections, what database would you use?

Absolutely any. Maybe, except for SQLite. These numbers will not surprise anyone.
