What causes files to be corrupted during a download?

Hello!
The problem is this - after moving to a hostel, very often when downloading a file or installer, it turns out to be damaged. I sin on the network settings.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Or does he know the reason?

unfortunately, I'm not aware of the network or hardware configuration. Judging by the answers, I will deal with the admin ... because I'm not the only one with such a problem

I had a similar problem. The files were downloaded normally, but lay down on the bad areas of the HDD. When reading, the checksums did not converge. The problem was solved by replacing the HDD.

Well, since you are not the only one who has such a problem, then who are those who have the same problem? Are you on the same router? Yes? Try changing the firmware of the router or the router itself, for example.

Everything was decided. There was a problem with the equipment, I asked the admin to figure it out - he found something, there was no Internet for a week, while the equipment was being changed, now everything is fine
