What cameras for video surveillance based on linux do you recommend?
I want to make video surveillance at home, the cameras will be inside and outside.
Because server on linux, then you need the cameras to work in linux without problems (I think there will be ubuntu server and motion). For outdoor surveillance, cameras are needed that can withstand frost, snow and rain, be at least a little vandal-proof (they will be quite high, but I want them not to be broken with a stick or some kind of stone). I want to see wireless cameras (is it bad or not?). Those that will be indoors, I want to see as little as possible so as not to spoil the design and interior. At the same time, I would like to see infrared cameras that work and show a picture in the dark. Can you recommend camera models? If it is possible to save money by ordering from China, then I am ready to wait for delivery, but the main thing is good quality, if the cameras die there in a week, then it is better not to save.
Looking forward to your advice, thanks.
PS I would also be grateful for advice on choosing a video eye model. Or a peephole camera, which I could script to display on the screen through the same Linux and motion.

for several years now I have been using the DS-2CD2012-I
IP camera for outdoor (IP66 protection level) surveillance, I have no complaints, they work like a clock. Now there are similar models with more pixels.
Connected via twisted pair, powered by PoE type of this + 12 volt power supply.
The live video is output via rtsp using the vlc video player, and the recording goes to the linux server using NFS (you can also use CIFS / SMB). With one camera per server, the load is minimal, so you can also use a torrent downloader, file cleaner, etc. on it without any problems.
To solve the problem of having electricity, you can connect the server and the IP camera to an uninterruptible power supply.
ps
there is a web interface for management, but you can also connect via ssh.
there is also a special iVMS program for viewing and managing both for win and for linux, see here .
а причем тут камеры???? Выбирать камеры, опираясь на ОС регистратора - это как выбирать автомобиль, основным критерием поставив цвет гаража....
