What book to give a programmer?

The language does not matter, in principle, and not by language, but by something related to the design or architecture of the computer. Of course, I would like something that can be bought in paper form with a beautiful cover and name, so that it looks like a gift. What book would you like to see on your shelf?

Donald Knuth, The Art of Programming. A classic, it's not cheap, it looks solid on the shelf - it's just right to put it on and never take it off. All in all, a great gift.

Yes, to hell, no paper books are needed for a programmer. If it's really a programmer. He already has what books he needs - in electronic form. What is not necessary - too. 21st century in the yard, hello.

If on programming subjects:
1. Kormen. Introduction to Algorithms

Just check if he has already read all of this.

What book would you recommend for confident Junior JAVA?

Stirlitz went in to Muller and he immediately caught the eye of the pood three-volume book "Methods of Oral Counting in Russia", which once again made a pacifying impression: it immediately seemed that you got to a professional who would settle all your problems in no time.

Whip "The Art of Programming" or Kormen "Algorithms"
Can be ordered on Amazon "Coders at work" in the original - fashionable now.
For example, I would also be happy with a good edition of "Of course you're joking, Mr. Feynman" or "12 chairs / The Golden Calf" (I love her)

on computer architecture:
1. “Digital circuitry and computer architecture” by David Harris and Sarah L. Harris
2. “Computer architecture” by E. Tanenbaum, T. Austin
For C ++ programmers
The book “C ++ Standard. translation, comments, examples” E. A. Zuev.
A very massive book in A4 format)) will look solid on the shelf

Maybe you can see here a comparison of prices in online stores  https://allpricer.ru/ By the  way, the site is wonderful and may suit you perfectly. At least I really liked it, so maybe for you it will be a worthy option, but then see for yourself.
