What book on computer networks should a student read?
I am a 2nd year student of applied computer science. It so happens that network programming is not a required part of the curriculum (and it is difficult to get into the optional), so I decided to study this issue on my own. In the university library, I found the book "Computer Networks" by Douglas E. Camera, it contains almost everything that interests me: from the physical principles of transferring data between devices, to describing high-level protocols and programming sockets in C (both for Unix and and for Windows). But there are two serious problems: the book is written in Polish (you can still put up with this) and the book was published in 2002, which casts doubt on the relevance of what was written (especially in the section that deals with security). Can you recommend some books with the same extensive content, but newer ones (at least since 2010)? Thank you all in advance for your replies.
