What are the trends in computer graphics?
I would like to know about the directions related to graphics when working on a PC, I mean both video editing and motion, as well as illustration, rast, vector, etc.
I just can’t find myself, I only know that I want to work with graphics, but I can’t decide on a sphere, I’m sure that I don’t know even half of the directions.

Let's start with the fact that computer graphics is a very general term, under which quite different areas of activity are united.
1. Illustration - obviously, the key skill here is the ability to draw (by hand), and photoshop and a graphics tablet are just additional tools.
The demand is very different, from the design of flyers to the creation of works of art.
The illustrator can combine his activities with the graph. design.
2. Graphic design
2.1. Web design and interface design (UI design). Most often it involves the preparation of graphic layouts, the technical implementation of which is carried out by layout designers and programmers. But it is desirable to know at least the basics of layout.
2.2. Print design. Leaflets, business cards, billboards, etc. Unlike a web designer, a printer accompanies the result of his work right to the printing press, i.e. must have more than a superficial understanding of the process.
3. Fonts and calligraphy. A good knowledge of typography is essential for any designer, but creating fonts is a complex specialization in its own right.
4. 3D modeling.
do not forget to buy a more powerful computer.
4.1. Interior design is the most common and quite demanded specialization today. Work shoulder to shoulder with engineers/architects. Knowledge of related technologies (AutoCAD/Archicad) is a plus.
4.2. Video games. There is enough work not only for 3D specialists, but also for illustrators and interface developers.
4.3. Cinema. Well, you know.
5. Video.
I am not familiar with this area, I will not expand.
I will add narrower areas to the first answer:
- UX design
- UI interface animation,
- 3D sculpting
- Artistic retouching, Product photography, Food design
- Presentation design, Exhibition design
- Concept art and Character design
- 3D is generally divided into a lot of varieties Object modeling environments, Architectural visualization, Level design, Visual Effects design (VFX).
- Animation of characters, environments 2D and 3D.
- Texturing - in general, there is a separate direction, there are even separate artists who are only engaged in texturing. This is typical for 3D.
