What are the techniques for testing the performance and load of applications on tomcat and glassfish?

The boss gave the task to conduct load testing on the web application installed on the glassfih, tomcat servers and get performance and load analytics. The operating system under which they spin is linux.

In which direction would you advise digging - maybe there are ready-made methods / working software?
Application - a portal site associated with electronic reporting.
Unfortunately, I have never dealt with the web in general, and even more so, I have never been involved in the web, I don’t know what there is for testing software.

I use a grinder for load testing , it’s
convenient that you can emulate different parameters, although I only tested ejb beans and web services (jax-rs / ws) with this utility,
