What are the table naming conventions?

Now I have to come up with a name for the table, but I want to know about the standards. As accepted, as it will be better and more correct.

There are tables subscriptions, users, and here is a table where we record what subscriptions a user has. How to call it?

I have the following options:

• user_subscriptions
  
• subscriptions is renamed to subscriptionItems and the table is called subscriptions.
  

I really care about standards and rigor. I will be glad to links to good practices and other things.
