What are the responsibilities of a junior in the field of information security?

Good day! I want to delve into the field of information security, but I don’t know where to start. I ask myself what does a junior do, what knowledge should he have, what languages are used to write in information security, what directions are there in this area? And are they hired without higher education, but, of course, with good practice and some projects?

To begin with, you should understand the following:
- Information security as a discipline, separate from IT - exists only in fairly large offices. Even in an office with 100+ fighters, there may not be a separate IS specialist. And the information security department, where there is a senior and a junior, is generally the prerogative of large offices.
- Large offices are usually more formalized, so higher education may be mandatory
- Almost all information security is built on trust :) All of a sudden, right? As a rule, there is no one above the IS specialist (or the head of the IS department) who could check his work. Formally, he can report to the director of security or the general, but in terms of work, no one can check him, he is the end point of all security pyramids. It is clear that no one will be taken to such a place :)
Of course, all of the above applies only to those who work in the office.
