What are the prospects for a level designer?

Actually a subject. I have a specialized education: mathematician, programmer. Due to the fact that I worked from the second year, not in my specialty, now I have a salary slightly above average, but a boring job, little related to programming. It is impossible to get a job as a Junior without work experience, they invited me to work as a level designer. According to the conditions, everything is cool, but the salary for the first half of the year will be much less. So the question arises, is the game worth the candle? Will I have any growth prospects in this direction?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

The whole point of level design is that it is neither Art nor Code. It's actually nobody. You will not download skill either in art or in coding. The same is true in the West. No better and no worse. There is also an environment artist, but there is more art here.
