What are the pitfalls of using webP?

Interested in support in browsers, possible problems with the front (it is planned to write the front in pure js/html/css) and so on. What are the disadvantages of the technology? It says that safari has partial support, what does that mean? Thank you.

WebP only supports safari on the new Mac OSes. Pitfalls unlike other pictures? no . By the way, they also support animations.
