What are the pitfalls of storing files in an access database?
The task arrived in the form of a hack - to concoct a database with the ability to store documents.
The timeframe/budget is, of course, somewhere in the region of zero, users are not much more than zero.
Accordingly, I think to build this disgrace based on ms access.
The files that will be stored in the database are not supposed to be large - they will probably be .doc and .docx no more than 2-5 mb (for sure there will be pictures and all sorts of tricks). The number is probably several hundred.
Interested in what pitfalls can be encountered when storing files inside the database?
Or would it be easier/better to place links in the DB to files in the file system? And at joint use of a DB through smb?
