What are the offline maps on the iPhone instead of a garmin-alike navigator?

I am looking for applications for navigating camping trips for iphone, I used to use various garmins with topographic and other maps:
1. is there something similar for iphone?
2. Can I use the same cards that are used in Garmins?
3. Does GPS/Glonass work in aiplane mode?
Update:
So far, the most convenient thing I have found is GaiaGPS , it is possible to buy Offline Topo Maps or pay another 500+ rubles and get GaiaGPS with the ability to record routes and additional goodies. It is possible to use various maps such as OpenStreetMap and so on, download for offline use, use layers and so on. I bought the full version, in August I will test it in Siberia.

I really liked Nokia Here under iOS. Free software + offline mode.
PS and by the way, the cards are great!
