What are the chances of getting a C# ASP.NET developer without VO?

I used to write in PHP, now I understand that I already lack the capabilities of the language (multithreading, strong typing and a more detailed implementation of OOP).
Actually, I’m thinking whether it’s worth preparing a portfolio on the .NET stack, or they won’t take it without VO, and it doesn’t matter what the portfolio will be?

The chance to get a job depends on how you pass the interview.
From my own experience, I can say that no one requires a diploma, except for the state. offices, but it’s definitely not worth going to them.
