What are the books on neural networks for a modern theoretical base?

Please advise books on neural networks that provide a modern theoretical base.
Articles on Habré, of course, are good, but I would like to have an idea about classifications, applications, maybe trends.
Naturally, the literature of the early 2000s is a good traditional preparation, but since then, it seems to me, research has stepped far forward.
