What are the alternatives to ZyWall?

Hello. We continue to shake up our servers and networks.
The question arose of choosing a hardware firewall, similar in functionality to ZyWALL (I don’t have it, but I just know that there is such a piece of iron). To be honest, models are hardly selected and googled.
I would like to ask the user experience, and what alternative manufacturers can be.
Or do not bother, and put the software. If software, what options are free or inexpensive. And it is desirable NOT to buy under this business also server Windows. pfSense+squid is about that?
Of the functions, I am interested in routing itself, port forwarding, traffic filtering, it is very desirable to have a VPN of some kind (without installing additional equipment on the other side, or with inexpensive equipment, and buying client programs).

@k3NGuru

What are Zywalls? I personally administer USG 20,100,1000,1100. A little touched by 5 and 35. Their
documentation ( zyxel.ru/kb) is excellent, technical support ( http://sd2.zyxel.ru) also responds normally.
But some pluses you need to buy a subscription (Content Filter (a la proxy server), application filter).
But again, depending on what you need a piece of iron. Firewall, VPN, etc.
You can also configure the gateway yourself. Here is a good series of articles habrahabr.ru/post/274639 there and firewall and VPN and routing.
But if Zywall is expensive, then you can look towards Mikrotik. Cheap and cheerful
