If you think about it, you can think of many uses for a webcam and write a software implementation for them.
Some of these ideas:
- to measure distances;
- for automatic switching on and off of lighting;
- to control the audio and video player (when you are too lazy to get up and use the mouse or keyboard, but there is no remote control);
- to change screensavers and OS themes depending on the user's mood;
- for text recognition;
- for the implementation of an electronic shooting range (now I'm just working on a similar project);
- if the programmer and spend a lot of time at the computer with headphones on, then you can install it at the entrance to the apartment and, when a guest appears, give out a message and broadcast the video directly from the landing;
- you can try to "teach a webcam" to recognize facial expressions and adapt for lip reading.
In general, I advise you to just try to use a webcam (or other device) in your life situations (albeit sometimes in very banal ones) and maybe someday you will come up with another unique application...
Determination of the position of the human head, facial expressions for control, etc. Who has enough imagination. I remember Google made a toy in which the control was only the head. That is, the position of your head in space depended on where the player would move. You played as a skier who had to get into a special gate during the descent and get points for it. Oh, and dodge trees.
There are also all sorts of programs for transferring your facial expressions to any 3D hero.
