What are some note-taking apps?

Recommend a free desktop app (other than Evernote) for taking your own notes.
Preferably with html support.
Also tell us what you use.

Not sure if it's free, but it supports anything.

I use Simplenote for all notes . There are a lot of clients for almost all current platforms (I personally use the official client on iOS, ResophNotes on Windows, Notational Velocity on OS X). The service is completely free and provides a lot of opportunities. For example, rollback in time, tags. Clients (at least the ones I use) allow you to store these notes in parallel with synchronization via Simplenote and locally as text files (allows you to quickly find them via Spotlight on Macs). There are clients with Markdown support (the same ResophNotes for Windows).
