1. squid, not squid.
2. If "light" means "consuming little memory / processor" - then I will advise privoxy. I somehow even raised it on a router with OpenWRT. Only about 170 Kb "weighs". And disable all caching.
3. The proxy will not show you "monitoring various interfaces" - it simply does not have the concept of an interface. It works with users/computers/sites. If you want to build network load monitoring - look towards NetFlow.
