Weeds in finding the iPhone and what to do with TouchID?

Not so long ago, my wife lost her iPhone 5s, in early January we met with the work team, turned gray and drank))) and began to move to the next place in search of entertainment))) The company was cheerful, and that day there was a lot of fresh snow, and how supposedly on the way everyone was fooling around and enjoying the New Year's weather. Upon arrival at the next "point" it turned out that there was no phone, I called him back, no one answered, my wife asked me to go look, but I was too lazy and told her that he was most likely at home. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

So, as a result, the phone is lost, most likely lying somewhere in the snow with a dead battery. For such cases, it would not hurt to enable the function of marking the last location in the application to find an iPhone. By the way, maybe it was turned on and the phone should have been displayed as a gray dot on the map, but as I found out, this happens only for 24 hours, and then that's it ... At least I did not find how you can see it

The situation is as follows - the phone was not found in the next couple of days, naturally you need to somehow make and receive calls, finding some kind of device for this in our time is not a problem for anyone in principle, but you also need a SIM card, for some kind of student, an option it would be to buy a new SIM card and that's it, but for most people a permanent number is very important. We restored the SIM card, as a result, the one that is on the phone has become inactive without which there will be no Internet on the phone, and how can I search for it then?
ps: there is a useful thing in android - location imtoria

So there is also Wi-fi, I thought, but there is a mistake here too. The wonderful TouchID function installed on the phone will not allow you to insert another SIM card or connect to Wi-fi
In fact, the chances of finding an IPhone with TouchID are only while it is charged and the native SIM is inserted, because after blocking the SIM, even your phone number will not appear on the screen by which the person who found it can contact you. Please write someone who thinks or knows about this
p.s .: I don’t really count on finding a phone, but for the future ...
