Web service = API?

Hello, I have an assignment for a course work that sounds like "Develop a web service for IP". After digging around on the Internet, I came to the conclusion that it looks like an API, but initially I had the idea that a web service = a web site.
What is it really, a website or an API?

A web service is a web service. A website is a website. Api is Api.
Three different things. A web service can have an api. Or maybe not have. could be a website. It may not be.
If you were given the task to develop a web service and you don’t even know what it is, then such questions are not relevant in principle, you still don’t know what you are doing. So do what you can to put a test and call it as the teacher will like it more - at least a "cloud solution".
