Many times I came across sites where you upload a photo, and a movie with your participation is shown to you. One of the latest examples is ihero2012.com (I know that the video was originally in another ad and this is not the original).
I immediately thought that ffmpeg could be done: there is the original video, we parse it into frames and then we edit each frame with scripts, and then we collect the video back. Are there other solutions?

ihero2012.com uses flash, there is a blank, a resource (picture) is replaced in it, and here is a movie with your participation.
