Validation in Laravel 5. (Alpha_dash)?

Why does alpha_dash skip cyrillic characters? The documentation says that it only allows LATIN characters, _ and - signs. Bug? How to edit it? Has anyone come across?

Is there any way to fix this issue? I'm just not familiar with Unicode regular expressions)
