USB screw from Windows to Linux?

Hello. I set out to move the hard drive from the router to the windows box, which is always on, in order to offload the router itself.
Naively, without foreseeing trouble, I installed VirtualBox, installed and configured Archlinux there, all services, etc., forwarded USB to a virtual machine. And then, when I was almost done with the settings, I realized that the speed of the virtual USB is very low. The write speed is about 2MB / s, which is even lower if the hard drive was connected to a router. There is an ext4 partition on the screw (better support in linux, and since it was not supposed to be portable, the lack of support in Win and Mac was not a significant drawback). And now I'm facing a dilemma:
1. Return everything back. The router gives out a low speed, + all these rocking chairs clog it up, and so small, RAM.
2. Install Linux host. This Windows-box is the only one in the apartment, sometimes you need to look at running / testing something on your native Windows environment.
3. Install coLinux: I do not think that the speed will be much higher than through a virtual machine, since USB is also emulated.
4. Install all services on Windows: brrrr... plus, the problem of reading ext4 from under Windows.
5. Another virtual machine that better forwards usb - I don’t know such one ... Can you advise?
Who will advise what?

Instead of forwarding USB, try to give the virtual machine the entire screw or partition. Manual: www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch09.html , Advanced storage configuration chapter.

1. Buy rasberry pi: interesting, cheap, practical. :)
2. Cygwin?
3. Windows in VirtualBox?

Did you install the Extension Pack to support USB 2.0?

Alternatively, if the system is 32 bit, you can also try colinux, it will work faster than a virtual machine.
