USB Flash Encryption. How?
Good afternoon/evening/morning Habr.
Task: encrypt a flash drive with password access.
Feature: the flash drive must be used on any PC with Windows or Mac OS.
Those. they will not have any cryptographic or other specialized software. When connecting a flash drive, you need to enter a password and get access like a regular USB drive.
From the past, I tried TrueCrypt - but what I wanted did not work out. In addition, cryptographic files are visible, which is not good. Other utilities work fine under Windows, but silence on Mac.
I'm already leaning towards acquiring something of this type , but the characteristics are not encouraging. And I want to use my flash drives.
Thank you all in advance, I'm sure many of you have solved this issue for yourself.

I see two contradictory points in your statement of the problem.
1. Use "on any PC" - that means, we assume that on "any PC" there is only a bare axis, and no additional. programs. Since there is no single standard for encrypting external media, this is sad.
2. “when connecting, you must enter a password” - it means that “any PC” already has some software that will ask for this password and then pass it on to some service (no matter what and where), which will already support encryption itself.
I see only one obvious way out - this software must be carried on the flash drive itself, on a separate partition, for example. And the entire data section is encrypted.
I have not seen a better solution than TrueCrypt, although there are analogues - all sorts of PGP Portable, etc.
“cryptography files are visible” - TrueCrypt Hidden Volume will help you.
You can compose your own hardware solution for yourself, but this is already too much.
I can hardly imagine what else can be done, except not to encrypt with TrueCrypt. I'm afraid in your case the only correct working solution.

What's the problem? The presence of bad blocks on the flash drive?
good afternoon. I also used TrueCrypt, but unfortunately the project was closed. Recently, they advised Rohos mini drive, just for those who are on Win or who only need to keep important information on a flash drive. There is a function to increase the size of the disk on the fly, it is also possible to work without admin. rights
