Unity3D on Linux?

Good day!
We decided to start developing games with a friend, we chose Unity3D as the engine, the question is that there is no development environment for Linux, please tell me, is it possible to run through a virtual machine (will the virtual machine pull?) Or will I have to install a second Windows OS? How to be in this situation?
