Unity 2D. How to implement the destruction of the map (in the style of Worms)?

One person, tentatively called Herman (and that person is me), woke up at 2 am and immediately turned on the computer to find information for his future game. I remembered that I once played a game on Vkontakte called Wormiks (Analogue - Worms). In this game, the destruction of the map (on video) was implemented, which I need to create my game.
And now the question is: how to implement a map with the same destruction?
I am new to Unity, I would like a detailed answer. And there is almost no information about this on the Internet, so I think I will find help at least here;)

There is a very detailed tutorial on mesh deformation. Transferring this to 2d should not be difficult.
