Turn off font smoothing with text-shadow: 0 0 0 #color?

Habr, I remember in Safari 3 you could turn off anti-aliasing using a subject.
Now under Safari 5 win with Appearance - Font smoothing: medium this trick does not work.
At the partner under Hackintosh - too.
Ideas?

Sorry, but judging by the screenshots above, it's not the anti-aliasing that is to blame, but the layout. Relying on the mythical font width is bad manners. I have the fonts installed by the web developers disabled and always set to DejaVu Sans instead. Your layout will work too. You don't know how it will look on the user's computer. There may be a bunch of factors.
If this point is important to you, make the layout so that it doesn't work with any fonts:

And don't force the user to break their eyes on fonts without anti-aliasing.

-webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased; should help.
