At the company file 1C. Recently, the base has been very dull, moving for 5 minutes of waiting. At the base sit 5-10 people maximum so far. The weight of the database is about 8GB.
What can be done? Money is not allocated for server licenses yet.
Maybe it makes sense to transfer to PostgreSQL?

8 gigs for 5-10 people is a lot. At least it's worth testing the transition.

If possible, go to the 1C server (it is possible on linux), and postresql, the database will work faster. A license is needed only for the 1c server, the rest is free.
You can also use the file base, but on a terminal server, this is a Windows server license, terminal licenses, and CAL licenses for each user. But you do not need to configure the 1C server, SQL server. The base will work faster than over the network.
For a file base, networking even for 5 people is a lot.
