TRENDnet TEW-664ub - Why might it not work correctly on Windows?
There is a TRENDnet TEW-664ub Wi-Fi adapter, there is a PC with Windows / Linux, there is an Apple Airport Express.
The router has 2 networks - 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
On Linux both networks are visible, on Windows (7, 8.1, 10 TP) only 2.4 GHz is visible.
On Linux, everything is OK with the connection, on Windows the connection periodically breaks (for example, when listening to music on VKontakte, downloading files in a browser or Steam, or playing online games). At the same time, Wi-Fi does not break, but the file download is simply interrupted, and packets are lost in games.
When pinging 192.168.1.1, there is no packet loss, but the ping "jumps" - for example, 5 packets < 1ms, then 1 packet 20ms. With ping 8.8.8.8, there are losses and ping jumps from 3ms to 600ms.
I did not ping in Linux, but I did not notice the problems with downloading / games described above.
The driver was installed by Windows itself, I tried to slip the driver from the office. site - says that the newest ones are already installed.
There are definitely no problems in the router - the MacBooks and Mac Minis standing nearby work without problems and everything is ok with ping.
What could be the problem and how to solve it?

So, I found a rather unusual solution. You need to install a utility for Wi-Fi from Mediatek (I will not give a link, I google it). The interface is extremely inconvenient, but it works as it should, and 5 GHz is visible (but only from the utility - it is not visible from the standard Windows GUI).
