Touch typing and the top row of numbers - how do you press?

Recently I have been using Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop, quite successfully mastering touch typing, but the top row of numbers is some kind of hell ... Not only can I not reach them without removing my fingers from the "base position", I also constantly miss. I would like to know from experienced touch typing users - how do you press the topmost line? My little fingers and ring fingers are freaking out from numbers and don’t obey well :)
