Thinkpad x230 not working Gobi 3000 3g modem?

I bought a Sierra mc8555 Gobi 3000 module on a Thinkpad. The Mobile Broadband item has appeared in the Network manager. Ubuntu 16.04 system

But when trying to activate the module through the Modem Manager Gui, an error pops up. Also, through Network Manager, when trying to create a connection at the device selection stage, there is only the Any Device item.
What needs to be done to activate the card on the laptop?

Gobi_loader worth it?
In order for the modem to come to life, the firmware must be loaded into it.
