Thin font in google chome search. How to fix?

Three days ago, the fonts in the google chrome search itself became strikingly thin. The issue is not present in incognito mode, other browsers, and other sites, including chrom apps itself. Tried everything from reinstalling fonts to rolling back the system, but maybe I missed something.
Who has any ideas?
