There is a specific goal - advice is needed to implement it

Good afternoon. I am 17 years old and I entered the first year of the Faculty of Physics and Technology in my city. However, I still don’t feel at ease and I’m not sure that my life path will be reduced to working as a theoretical physicist.
In this regard, I decided to try to discover new planes for myself, namely programming. But I absolutely do not want to learn "spherical programming in a vacuum", but I want to take small steps towards a specific goal, for example, towards some small, absolutely useless, but still program.
So, I decided to try to create a trinket that will wait for a key to be pressed on the keyboard and then start a timer, after which the audio file should play. Ideally, of course, with some kind of graphical interface and the ability to select a key / time / audio file, but you can do without it. under windows.
Actually, the question is: where should I start, where to fix my eyes, what to read? And, in general, will I be able to implement this without having any knowledge in this area? Or maybe you should start with something much simpler (I wouldn't want to)?

I can’t call myself a programmer, I’m just learning myself, but I don’t think that without knowing anything it’s worth immediately rushing to make full-fledged programs.
First, you should chew on the theory, figure out how programs are built in general, learn at least some language, and only then ...

Do you really want to exchange physics for "I want music to play on the button"?
Programmers solve problems with improvised means. In your case - without programming. If you had any idea in the field of computer management (including programming), you would have already solved the "problem". Drop the idea of programming before it's too late. It's not yours.

The task is not to say that it would be difficult, but it is better to start from a theoretical minimum. Otherwise, even in the case of a successful solution of the problem, porridge will remain in the head. For example, start with a codecademy course or a good book on the language.
