The tablet is stolen, how to influence the thief?

Habrayuzer-lawyers, I hope for your help.
The following happened - my tablet was stolen. After it was returned, but clean, like a baby's tear. Are there ways to legally influence a person who has committed such an act?
PS: There were important documents on the tablet. As I understand it, it is impossible to restore them?

Connect the tablet to the computer as a drive. Try running a file recovery program. Of the paid ones, R-Studio is very good, but there are also free ones.

If the tablet was an iPad, then in theory there was a backup copy. Restore it via iCloud and the documents will be restored. But this is IF iPad

Why not use legal methods? - with reinforcement along the ridge to the thief, beat off the kidneys so that he writes with blood, no?

I'm not a lawyer, but I think it will not be easy to attract.
In order for someone to begin to itch, it is necessary that there be major material damage. This is with us, if memory serves, 50tyr. If you can justify that the loss of documents caused such damage, then you can try. And if not, then it is unlikely that something will come of it. The tablet was returned to the owner, respectively, the material values \u200b\u200bof everything is in place.

There may be an article for “destruction”, but your evidence base is absolutely zero. And it is unlikely that it will be possible to dilute a person into a sincere confession “they say, deliberately.”

if the fact of theft is not legally recorded - in no way (otherwise through the court - moral and other damage)
a backup copy of the data (especially on portable media) and their cryptoprotection saves from such problems
