In general, the thing is, I boot up on an unremarkable day, everything was fine and even the day started well, but no, when I needed to change the sound output, I noticed that the Volume Control icon on the top panel was missing ... Without thinking for a long time, I opened the settings and saw there this miracle In principle, the standard output works through the system zvukovuhu, but I have not used it for a long time.
How to fix? distr. Elementary OS

This makes me suspect that the problem is not just in the sound.
Boot from a Live CD/DVD and check the hardware first. At the same time, see if there are the same problems there. And it's better to take Live (just in case) with another distribution (Debian, for example).
