The sound (and the volume control) disappeared from the menu bar, what should I do?

In general, the thing is, I boot up on an unremarkable day, everything was fine and even the day started well, but no, when I needed to change the sound output, I noticed that the Volume Control icon on the top panel was missing ... Without thinking for a long time, I opened the settings and saw there this miracle 02e90db4696646f6b3e4d1d790ea42c2.pngIn principle, the standard output works through the system zvukovuhu, but I have not used it for a long time.
How to fix? distr. Elementary OS
PS
After clicking the "End Session..." button, nothing happens. It seems to me that the system has crashed :/

@Pauk_Code

In general, time passed, and the sound itself appeared! :D

What to do? Install a more stable OS.

@AVKor

After clicking the "End session..." button, nothing happens.

This makes me suspect that the problem is not just in the sound.
Boot from a Live CD/DVD and check the hardware first. At the same time, see if there are the same problems there. And it's better to take Live (just in case) with another distribution (Debian, for example).
