The most rational data storage?

Greetings, I'm interested in the issue of storing personal data, mainly a photo / video archive. At the moment, I just merge everything on Yandex and Google disk, but I'm worried that everything is stored in one place, and in which case you can lose everything at once. Therefore, I thought about purchasing an external hard drive. Does this make sense or can you safely trust cloud services? And if so, what disk would you recommend getting?

Also, I will be grateful if you share your ways of storing data.

Worries right. They can lose, and in return give nothing but an apology and a discount. There is a good rule for storing important information: "3-2-1" - three copies on two different types of media, and at least one copy is separate from the others.
