The display has stopped detecting normally in Linux mint 18.3, how can I fix it?

two monitors connected to a Linux mint 18.3 desktop computer, everything worked fine. but today, after turning on one of the monitors, which was the primary one, was no longer detected by the system. the resolution on it has dropped to the minimum and is not particularly comfortable to use. What could be the reasons for this behavior and is it possible to fix it?

I don’t know if it will help ... I also updated to 18.3 the other day and ran into a similar
case. The case is doped HiDPI and Cinnamon 3.6. LM can now automatically scale the size of windows\fonts\icons to fit the monitor resolution. For the solution, adjust the resolution of each monitor by hand. If it doesn't help, here's a review article , then google about tweaking the X server.

look in the direction of xrandr, I solved a lot of problems with it (in another distro)
, so if something is broken in Mint, until they fix it, use it.

The same.
Today updated in 18.3 libldap and linux-firmware.
The resolution setting of the second monitor (VGA and HDMI) has disappeared.
When you try to manually adjust the resolution, it tiles both monitors and does not even allow you to reboot normally.
How to roll them back?
