The cost of shipping a heavy parcel from abroad
I wanted to buy one thing on eBay, the cost is 500 dollars, but the weight is 15-20 kilograms. The seller has delivery. The question is, will the customs or the Russian Post cling to the weight? Will they make me pay extra or even go to Moscow for customs clearance?

When goods are moved by the carrier to the address of an individual within a calendar month, goods can be imported duty-free to the address of one recipient, the customs value of which does not exceed the equivalent of 1,000 euros and weighing no more than 31 kg.
Regularly (every three or four days) I order parcels weighing 12-17 kg. Never had any problems. True, sending goes through ems. The main thing is the cost. Since you fit into 1000 euros, then there should not be any jambs at customs.
They cannot force you to pay extra, since at the point of departure the cost of delivery to your post office of this particular weight of the parcel is immediately calculated.
Don't worry, everything should work out. But my advice to you: better choose a more expensive shipping option. This will give you the opportunity to track the shipment, it will be automatically insured and in general it will go faster

I know for sure that some German sites send parcels to the Russian Federation (by regular mail) weighing no more than 20 kg (I ordered a printer for myself).
We have an inexplicable customs and the logic of how this or that parcel goes through customs clearance is also inexplicable. I'll tell you my experience. At one time I ordered a processor for $199 from the USA (these processors were not yet in Russia). I paid for "urgent" delivery of UPS within 2 days. He waited for his prots waited, but he's still gone. I call UPS, and they tell me that they say you ordered to the address at which the non-residential building is listed (I live in the suburbs, ordered to the office address in my name) and customs requires a pack (the list was read out further) of documents stating that goods are not imported to the company. As a result, the documents and the customs broker cost me around 7K rubles, it took about a month for customs clearance, and when they handed me my percent, I could already buy the same one in all Moscow stores for a price comparable to the price in the USA.
At the same time, the vinyl records I bought on eBay always arrived without problems. From this I conclude that when the customs sees some kind of more or less goods for which you can cheat something, it will come up with reasons to cheat for it.
Delivery of half a meter by half a meter of a box weighing somewhere around 8-10kg by EMS Express cost me ~$110
If you need to pay separately for delivery, then yes, about 200 bucks. So I brought myself a dj turntable
